Imagine this real situation from a Pokemon game.

Where did the thunder go? I'm aware that it missed but it has to go somewhere. did it hit slightly to the left? if so that should still deal damage. Did it hit the other trainer? If so, he dies and the battle ends due to technicality. Also, on that note, wouldn't dropping the opponent's pokemon accuracy put you in danger of it attacking YOU? just a thought...
